Collection: Tasmanian Connection
We love having our Wet Season escape in Tasmania and it has provided some inspired variation on my designs.
GARLIC COLLECTION
Every year we have the Koonya Garlic Festival. It started as a fairly small local festival but it has since grown into a statewide and also interstate event !
So as I grow my own garlic I decided to use this as inspiration for some designs and have a stall at the show. And garlic jewellery has proved surprisingly popular ... definitely keeps the vampires away :)
LAVENDER COLLECTION
Not far from us is the Port Arthur Lavender Farm. One of those lovely places that when you walk into the stunning high ceiling gallery & café your nose is assaulted with a mix of lavender & great coffee aromas. Quite a fabulous combination !!
Lavender has long been a favourite plant to have in my vegetable garden as it really attracts the bees, has an amazing scent and is well ... just so pretty !
So ... it made sense to showcase this in some pieces of jewellery using the farms beautiful logo and using striking purple cubic zirconias to highlight that lavender feel.... enjoy !
PORT ARTHUR HISTORIC SITE COLLECTION
This huge former convict settlement was built in the 18th & 19th century. World Heritage listed Port Arthur Historic Site is the best preserved convict site in Australia, and among the most significant convict era sites worldwide. It attracts over 250,000 visitors a year !!! Wow !!
Due to movies we think of the arrow as a mark on prisoners uniforms but it wasn’t really used for that here. The Broad Arrow mark was used to denote government property in the Australian colonies from the earliest times of settlement. At the site you will find lots of things marked with it. Even the bricks !
And so from this symbol another jewellery range was born ... /|\
